Alfred Hitchcock Vanity Fair Shoot

Whilst researching the shrine project (Hitchcock and Cakes), I came across this photoshoot that was created for Vanity Fair in 2008. It involved major stars of today recreating classic scenes from his best known movies. Stars that took part involved: Kiera Knightly, Charlize Theron, Naomi Watts, Javier Bardem, Scarlett Johansson, James McAvoy, Robert Downey Jr, and others.

Hitchcake Shrine

We took photos of mini chocolate and lemon cakes from Tesco and stuck pictures of telephones, stabbing hands and birds in them. We then added these photos to our cake table along with the large Hitch wedding cake.

In Leytonstone underground station (Hitch was born there in 1899), there are some really good mosaics which this project reminded me of. Here are few:

Adding Value

For the adding value project, we took a brick from the morgue of the college and are trying to transform it from a valueless bit of rubble into a sort of 'museum piece.' We are adding a plague onto the brick, we are going to encase it in a transparent box, and we have also create a small 'quality' booklet to go with it, detailing the history of the building from which the brick came from. Here is the booklet in its pre-printing format. Odd numbers are on the first page, even on the second.

My Manifesto

This is the first page of my manifesto. I have written about the divisions in society between the 'Intellectuals' and the 'Creatives' - for example, the thinkers and the artists, the evolutionists and the creationists, etc. It's been fun coming up with these statements, even though sometimes they don't even make sense to me!

Hitchcake

For the shrine project, me and Arwa are combining Hitchcock and cakes. I am making one large wedding cake for the centre of the display on Photoshop. Here is how it is looking so far:

Comic Sans Destroyed

For 'Comic Sans Destroyed,' I created the letter 'L' in wax and destroyed it by melting it on the stove. Here are the results!

I made a wooden mould, melted some candle wax into it, and added some watercolour paint (without using water) on top to make it brilliant white (it didn't come out as brilliant white when it was on the wax though, so I may end up repeating it with some other paint and photographing it again). I then put the wax 'L' on some tin foil on a baking tray and put the whole thing on the stove.

The paint on the wax did not melt and left a ghostly figure where the wax beneath it used to be. The wax melted and the paint disintegrated, thus the 'L' is destroyed (almost!).

I Love Badges

We were asked to create badges in the style of the 'I Love NY' logo created by Milton Glaser, but about things that we are passionate about.
Here are my 7 badges - all about the Master of Suspence, Alfred Hitchcock.
